A very successful season at all levels.
2 Level One candidates were assessed and passed during
the season and a further 52 have passed the theory part of the Level One
course. Hopefully many of these will be ready to take their practical
assessment during the summer.
Congratulations must also go to:
Karen Smith – Passed
her Level Two Umpire Coaches Award
Robbie White – Passed his Level
Two practical and has been officiating at North Premier this season
Mike Hollinshead – Passed
his National League watching game and is now a Level 3 Umpire officiating in
National League Div 3
Mike Hollinshead – Passed
his Level One Umpire Coaches Award
Karen Smith –
CHUA appointed officials to the Cup and Plate finals,
and the play offs.
Many thanks to Mike Hollinshead, Mark Smith, Karen
Smith, David Rolands, Ian Turley and Glyn Roberts for their time, help and enthusiasm.
Please can we urge all club management to support
your Level One umpires and encourage them to return their match cards to Karen
by 14th August. It is vital for those
already qualified to maintain their accreditation and for club officials to
encourage everyone to become qualified.
The summer months are an ideal time for people to
pass their practical assessments. Please help the assessors help you by
arranging friendly games for your umpires to be assessed on. Anyone needing a
practical assessment can contact either Karen Smith or Mike Hollinshead.
Cheshire are running a Foundation Umpires Award at
Chester on May 22nd It is aimed at 14-18 year olds and is a great
opportunity to develop a better understanding of the role and techniques of the
umpire and the rules of hockey. The course tutors will be Chris Todd, Karen
Smith and Mike Hollinshead.
