Cheshire Hockey Umpiring Association Report 2005/6

 

 

A very successful season at all levels.

 

 15 Level One candidates were assessed and passed during the season ( one of which was coached at the Cheshire Youth games last year and is only 17yrs old)  and a further 35 have passed the theory part of the Level One course. I know three more are already waiting for assessment this summer.

 

Congratulations must also go to:

Tricia Mills who has become a County Assessor

 

Ian Turley who gained his Cheshire nomination to the North, and passed his assessment for the North Div 1 Panel.

 

Mark Smith who passed his Level 3 assessment and is now officiating in the National League.

 

 

CHUA appointed officials to the Cup and Plate finals, and the play offs.

Many thanks to Mike Hollinshead, Mark Smith, Ian Turley , Andie Cartin, Robbie White, Karen Smith and Glyn Roberts for their time, help and enthusiasm.

 

Many thanks to Mike for representing the CUA  on the County Committee over the past few years. He is retiring from this post this year and will be sorely missed.

 

Many thanks to Karen for representing the CUA  on the League Committee for many years. She is retiring from this post this year and will be sorely missed. Both Karen and Mike will still be heavily involved with CUA.

 

 

The CUA are keen to identify and develop the young talent within our area. Peter Sutherland, passed his Level One after coaching at the Youth Games, and Paul Beckett , who passed his FUA last summer (both 17yrs) were selected to officiate at the North Mini Hockey Championships in Durham in April. Both enjoyed the weekend and have promised to umpire this year at the youth Games in June. Three other young umpires from our FUA course officiated last June and will hopefully be able to return this year.

 We desperately need volunteers to join the Cheshire Youth Group on behalf of the CUA and represent us on the North Young Umpire’s Action Group Committee.

 

The summer months are an ideal time for people to pass their practical assessments. Please help the assessors help you by arranging friendly games for your umpires to be assessed on. Anyone needing a practical assessment can contact either Karen Smith or Mike Hollinshead.
