Cheshire Hockey Association
Report to 2006 Annual General Meeting
CHESHIRE WOMEN’S HOCKEY LEAGUE
Another successful season for the Cheshire Women’s League. We have 23 Cheshire clubs and a further 8 who affiliate to other counties – 59 teams in all. In order to accommodate all the new clubs / teams who had applied to join the League, Divisions 5, 6 and 7 were extended from eight teams to nine.
Bad weather before Christmas meant there was a backlog of games and further bad weather in the New Year caused more disruption. The committee extended the final playing date by one week to allow completion of all the games.
League winners:
Division 1 was closely fought for most of the season but the eventual winners were Winnington Park who are Cheshire’s new representative in the Feeder League. No play-off was necessary this season as the North changed their rules. This means that Oxton will return to Division 1.
Division 2 Bowdon 3
Division 3 Wilmslow 1
Division 4 Runcorn 1
Division 5 Bowdon 4
Division 6 Brooklands 2
Division 7 Wilmslow 2 - who were unbeaten all season, scoring a
magnificent total of 90 goals.
The Colt’s league, again, was not a success. The format will be changed completely for next season.
Fixtures Live has been a huge success – we have had positive feedback from all the clubs. Thanks again to Nicky Gray for all her hard work.
We have already had application from new teams to join the League next season, which will probably mean yet another Division.
