Cheshire Hockey Association Report to the AGM 2006
NORTH WEST HOCKEY LEAGUE 2005-06
Another outstanding season, with the majority of the matches being played on their scheduled dates, except for two weekends, when the Weather conditions (Frost and Snow) hitting the League programme, especially on Sat 4th March when 80 League matches were cancelled, resulting in the League season being extended by one week.
The list of Cheshire Clubs successes is:
Divisional Winners: Bowdon 3’s (Division 3), Wilmslow 1’s (Division 4), Bowdon 4’s (Division 5 North), Bowdon 5’s (Division 5 South), Chester 3’s (Division 6 South), Tameside 2’s (Division 7 South), Lymm 1’s (Division 9 South).
Runners Up: Brooklands MU 3’s (Division 3), Brooklands MU 4’s (Division 4), Neston SW 3’s (Division 6 South), Bramhall 3’s (Division 7 South), Neston SW 4’s (Division 8 South),
New clubs/teams joining for 2006-07:
Old Caldians 1’s (New Club), Lymm 2’s, Neston SW 6’s, Bramhall 5’s, Oxton 7’s, Deeside R 7’s.
Lymm 1’s – Newly formed Club who joined the League at the start of the season, have had an excellent season, gaining promotion in an unbeaten season, and are entering a 2nd team for next season
The League is now being extended next season to cater for the new Clubs/Teams with a New Division 10 South.
Behind the scenes the League has again been consulting with the relevant Counties to update its rules, Constitution and Appendices (Including Appendix 5 – Discipline Scheme). Once again the main issue has been agreement on how address the Clubs whose disciplinary record has given cause for concern.
In 2005-06 Cheshire’s Commitment to the League was again evident, in the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, Information Manager, Fines Officer, Senior Coordinator and Coordinator.
