WOMEN’S COMPETITIONS REPORT

A busy year for the Women’s Cup and Plate trying to juggle fixtures to get the games played with teams playing more League hockey.

There were 37 teams entered into the respective Cup and Plate draws.

This Season we again attempted to play the Cup and Plate Finals on the same day at the same venue. This happened on Sunday 28^th January 2007 at Timperley Hockey Club.

The Cup finalists were

1st Team :-           Marple v Poynton 1sts

2^nd Team :-            Poynton 2nds v Deeside 2nds

3^rd Team :-            Bowdon 4ths v Poynton 3rds

Poynton had a clean sweep and won each final here.

The Plate finalists were

1^st Team :-             Sale v Bowdon 2nds

2^nd Team :-            Timperley 2nds v Bowdon 3rds

3^rd Team :-            Timperley 3rds v Timperley 4ths

The 3^rd team plate final was played due to an error by the Competition  Organiser but the teams played in good friendly spirit.

The Plate winners were Bowdon 2nds, Bowdon 3rds and Timperley 4ths.

Thanks to all the umpires who umpired on the day and helped with the technical side of things as well.

The Cheshire U19 tournament was held in February with 6 teams entering. Bowdon ran out overall winners with Wilmslow runners up.

Bowdon went on to represent Cheshire at the North U19 Club Championships and I am delighted to report they were the overall winners of that competition.
