Kukri North West Hockey League 2007- 08 Season

Once again another excellent season, in which the league formed a sponsorship deal with Preston-based sportswear manufacturers – Kukri Sports, this sponsorship agreement lasts for three seasons upto August 2010, with the league now known as: Kukri North West Hockey League.  The league Management Committee see this as an exciting partnership with Kukri, in which the league will look at investing the sponsorship monies in such areas as Youth Development and Umpire Coaching.

Overall, the majority of the matches were played on their scheduled dates, apart from Saturday 2nd February when the league programme was decimated by the effects of Snow and frozen pitches with over forty matches cancelled, fortunately with the good cooperation and flexibility of Clubs and the league coordinators these were re scheduled without having to extend the league season beyond Easter.

The below Cheshire teams have withdrawn from the league during the season:

Macclesfield 4’s

Alderley Edge 6’s

City of Manchester 4’s

Wilmslow 4’s

The list of Cheshire Clubs successes is:

The League currently has seven vacancies for the coming season (2008-09), South four vacancies, North three vacancies.  The League Management Committee have also sent a proposal to member clubs whereby they could enter the league on a none competitive basis.

League Rules – There have not been any changes in the league rules for this season, however, for the coming season  (2008-09), the NHA Guidance Notes for Pitchside Conduct is to be included in the league rules Appendices and this expected to be made  mandatory for League Rules on Discipline by England Hockey within the coming season.
