CHA AGM Report 2007-08  Website

During the last 12 months the  web site from a content point of view has continued much as it was for the previous 12 months being updated as and when the information changes.  The main information on the site is :

Cheshire Constitution

Meeting schedules

Minutes of CHA management committee

Minutes of Cheshire Development  Group

AGM reports and minutes

Fixture schedule, results and honours from schools and youth hockey

Cup draws and results for both Men’s and Women’s cup competitions

Contact details for all officials

Announcements re coaching and umpiring courses

Miscellaneous announcements re events from English Hockey and the North

The main structural changes have been the inclusion of pages for the Cheshire School Girls and Youth as part of the site and the redesign of the Boys and Youth pages to follow the same style as the Girls pages.

Unfortunately I don’t have accurate site usage statistics for this year as the facility previously used was withdrawn; however based on the limited counts I had there were probably about 12000 visits in the last 12 months. A new count has now been established.

When ever possible photographs have been put on the site, mainly from the various successful school and youth teams.  This does however raise the issue of the Child Protection Act and although I would welcome more photos please take note of the general guidance for such things which is “when putting up photos make sure that individuals cannot be identified by name”. Also appropriate parental permission should have been obtained and confirmed with any submitted pictures.

As I’m sure you are aware England Hockey are more and more using their web site as a prime source of communication. Therefore whenever possible I put links directly into the EH site rather than duplicate the information on the Cheshire site and also to avoid everybody having to navigate their way round the EH site.

For the future we are currently looking at the distribution of information between the handbook and the website both with respect to communication details as well as some of the historical information that used to be in the handbook, eg honours lists etc. As part of this, irrespective of whether it will appear on the site, I have already in conjunction with the secretary established a database of club contacts  to facilitate  communication with the clubs. When club contact details change it is important that you let us know as soon as possible, please!
