NOTES TO CLUB SECRETARIES

Extract from the Cheshire Handbook 2005-06

('he', 'his' and 'him' refer to both genders)

These notes are for guidance to individuals and clubs in the spirit of good practice to promote reasonable and fair actions and to encourage loyalty. As Secretary, please bring this information to the notice of your Committee and encourage the development of an internal code where one does not currently exist.

No representative of a club ought to approach a member of another club suggesting or requesting a player or official to move clubs. Any advice of this nature ought to be given in a professional manner and in accordance with the England Hockey's Code of Conduct for Hockey Coaches.

Whilst all players and officials should always have the right to move clubs, the following ought to be observed at all times.

A player, official or club should comply with:

- if in place, the internal code, policy or practice on these matters at the club where the individual is currently a member; and - the rules which are applicable for the relevant League of which the club/s in entering have made the commitment to abide by; or

- be subject to any sanctions contained in these documents.

The rules of the relevant leagues governing player registration / player movement are paramount and must be adhered to.
